Random #3

I have always had horrible luck with cars. Until my truck, go Toyota.

It all started with my Ford Tempo. A few days after I bought it I took it in for safety and emissions. They told me it would cost $2,000 to get it to pass. I took it to a different mechanic and they let a few things slide and fixed it for $600. This car continued to have something wrong with it about every other month. At the end of its life it would just die randomly. Then one day they tire blew up while filling it with air. That was the last straw, I sold Elenor to the junk yard for 45 big ones.

Next up was big gold. A 1987 Chrysler LaBaron I bought for $250. A month after I bought it I started to smell gas. It had sprung a gas leak. A week later the heater stopped working in the middle of December. After putting $250 into it I sold it for $200.

Then I bought my Jeep Cherokee. This one wasn't actually that bad. It needed several repairs but overall it was a pretty good car. It simply had a bad habit of not starting when I needed it to. Like when I was trying to sell it and someone came to test drive it.

Finally I decided that I was sick of junkers and I was just going to get a loan and buy a nice car. I found a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta. I was so excited! I was driving home from work one day and I heard a load thunk. I pulled over and looked under my new car. There right before my eyes was my engine. That's right my engine fell out of my car. How does that happen? A few months after getting that fixed a loud beeping noise started that would not turn of. You know the one that goes on when you leave your door open. When I took it in they told me that the wiring in the car was completely shot. The anti lock brakes also needed repaired. Someone had placed black tape over the warning lights.

So there you go, that is the story of my bad luck with cars from age 16-19. Four cars in three years. Oh how I love my truck. Two years without any problems. (Knock on wood.)

Wow!! That is so crazy. I have only ever owned one car ... a toyota. They're the best. I've had it 6 years and have never had to do anything more then routine maitenance on it. I think every car/van/truck/SUV I ever buy will be a Toyota even though I know they are being dragged through the mud right now.

Good thing you have a nice truck now. I also had a '84 Jeep cherokee (Black Beauty) , it was ghetto! It had an oil leak, rust, wouldn't start, or would die on me while I was driving. After all the issues w/ cars its great to have a Scion '07, Toyota makes them.

Oh, my, oh my. You need a "car" coach. We've had a few lemons, too, but not nearly as bad as yours. My main problem is that my husband keeps pouring more money into a "lemon" with the belief that surely this will be the LAST repair. Thousands of dollars later, we end up selling for a loss. I have to say: I love my Toyota, too. I've had it four years and not a single repair or problem. (and it was used)

I remember when your engine fell. I couldn't believe it. I'm glad you finally have a car that works!
